Simulation Across the Chasm: Meeting the Promise of Engineering Analysis in Product Development. Chad Jackson, Vice President, Product Innovation & Engineering, will present new research which shows that early simulation in the product development cycle is key to shortening design cycles. The Aerospace Corp. will describe how they utilized a single performance engineering workspace to complete higher fidelity model development in half the time.

While it's a concept that has been around for more than a decade, Aberdeen Group's June 2008 Engineering Executive's Strategic Agenda found that the application of simulation earlier in product development is a trend that's still growing. It remains a major performance differentiator, with Best-In-Class organizations 36% more likely than Laggards to pursue it.
Aberdeen's new paper "Simulation Across the Chasm: Meeting the Promise of Engineering Analysis in Product Development – Oct 08" describes how leading companies are not only improving who has access to simulation tools and results but also when they are utilizing simulation to improve their engineering process. New technology allows both domain specialists and non-specialists to safely perform simulations earlier in the process when the cost to change is lower.
Aberdeen's paper includes a brief customer story detailing how The Aerospace Corp. is using a new performance-engineering workspace, along with their existing CAD and CAE tools, to create an integrated view of design changes and product performance across what would otherwise be siloed engineering disciplines. By using new technology, the project team has implemented a concurrent engineering process that before now could not be supported by existing tools. During the webinar, the project leader will provide details about their process and results!
